THE FARMERS BANK SCHOLARSHIP

Farmers Bank is awarding seven scholarships of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) each to a high school graduating senior at Windsor High School, Smithfield High School, Isle of Wight Academy, Lakeland High School, Nansemond River High School, Kings Fork High School and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.

Graduating seniors who wish to compete for the scholarship must complete a Farmers Bank Scholarship application form.

The scholarship will be awarded by a committee of five individuals, independent from Farmers Bank.

CRITERIA

  1. COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE- The applicants must be seniors who have accepted an offer of admission as a full time student from an accredited two or four year college or university.
  2. NEED- The financial circumstances of the applicants will be a factor in the awarding of the scholarship. Demonstrated need will be given careful consideration.
  3. SCHOLASTIC AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT- The applicants must posses an “Above Average” academic record.
  4. PERSONAL TRAITS- The recipients of the Farmers Bank Scholarship must be strong in those traits that exemplify high moral character. All participants should possess and extremely high degree of honesty, self respect, reliability, self- control, personality, service, patriotism, and responsibility. Applicants should also possess leadership ability and be actively involved in school and community activities.

PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

The Farmers Bank Scholarship will be paid directly to the college business office upon receipt of verification of enrollment. Payment will be made by August of the year in which the scholarships are awarded.

THE FARMERS BANK SCHOLARSHIP DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE ON THE BASIS OF RACE, SEX, COLOR, CREED, RELIGION, OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN THE AWARDING OF ITS SCHOLARSHIP.

Final deadline for submitting all completed applicants to the guidance director will be APRIL 1. None will be accepted or considered after this date. Applicants must include a transcript of high school grades. Download the application
