***URGENT FRAUD ALERT CONCERNING HOME DEPOT DATA SECURITY BREACH***

Farmers Bank is aware of the recent Home Depot data security breach and is taking appropriate measures to protect those who may be impacted by this event. We will continue to monitor cardholder activity with sophisticated fraud detection software. There is no need to cancel your card. If it is determined that your account is at risk, we will notify you. If you determine that unauthorized activity has occurred on your account, please contact us immediately at (757) 242-6111 or email us at reportfraud@farmersbankva.com or call 1-800-500-1044 after normal banking hours. Farmers Bank consumer cardholders are not liable for any unauthorized charges reported in a timely manner. Farmers Bank will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.

***Important Information regarding the Heartbleed Bug***

A recent security vulnerability called the “Heartbleed Bug” allows hackers to access encrypted information which can lead to your personal information being stolen.  At this time, there is no evidence that Farmers Bank systems have been directly affected by this bug. Farmers Bank will continue to evaluate its systems for vulnerabilities to make sure your accounts remain safe and secure.

If you receive a phone call, email or text message stating that your debit card has been deactivated and you are given a phone number to call to reactivate it, THIS IS A SCAM. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE PHONE NUMBER OR GIVE OUT YOUR DEBIT CARD INFORMATION. Farmers Bank will NEVER ask you for your personal information over the phone, through and email or text message. Please report any suspicious phone calls, emails or text messages by calling (757)242-6111 or emailing reportfraud@farmersbankva.com .
